Obituary

Gayle Ann Anglin, age 66 of Oxford, Ohio was  welcomed into the arms of the Lord on Sunday March 3, 2024 while surrounded in love by her family at home. She was born in Hamilton, Ohio on September 14, 1957 as the seventh of eight children of Joseph and Celeste (Hingsbergen) Engel. For grade school, she attended St. Joseph in Hamilton and graduated from Ross High School in 1975. She met the love of her life, Jammy, through mutual friends. Gayle and Jammy were married in a humble backyard ceremony on May 19, 1978.

Gayle served the community at Nationwide Papers, Colonial Senior Services, Butler County Juvenile Court, and Fort Hamilton Hospital. She retired at Fort Hamilton in August of 2022.

Ask anyone and they would tell you the most important thing to Gayle was family. She poured all of her love, energy, and time into doing things with and for her family. She made every holiday special, whether it was sending a Valentine’s Day card in the mail, or surrounding the Christmas tree with tall stacks of presents. She used her creativity to help plan many fun, sometimes themed, family parties with her sister Jan. These often included writing cleverly rhymed invitations and many games. Passions for God, gardening, and cooking were passed down to her from her mother and Gayle passed these down to her children as well. Another important hobby to her was shopping, which usually occurred with her sister Jan. She enjoyed the thrill of bargain hunting and would be so excited and proud to tell people how good of a deal they found. She loved soaking up the sunshine, whether it was working in her garden, fishing at her pond, or lying out at a beach. She was incredibly selfless, extremely generous, exceptionally hardworking, and was always thinking of other people and how to help them. Everything she did, she did it with family or others in mind. She was strong in both body and mind. She fought with all her might for what was important to her and never gave up.

She is survived and immensely missed by her husband, Jammy; three children, Jim (Kendra) Anglin of Fairfield, Ohio, Jenny (Shannon) Barrett, of White Oak, Ohio, and Stephanie (Tony) Houston of White Oak, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Drew, Liam, Grace, and George Anglin, Olivia, Gavin, and Aiden Haubiel; three brothers, Robert (Bev) Engel, Joe (Arlene) Engel, and Rick (Laina) Engel; three sisters, Cheryl (Barry) Ginter, Karen (Bill) Kerby, and Jan (Paul) Eichhold; parents-in-law Ruth and Jim Anglin; a brother-in-law Tim (Sandy) Anglin; four sisters-in-law Debbie (Dennis) Rose, Lora (Doug) Brooks, Cora Anglin Gray, and Janet Engel; a special uncle George Engel; 29 nieces and nephews, and 36 great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother Jerry Engel, a nephew Bo Kerby, and two brothers-in-law Bill Gray and Dennis Bradner.

The family would like to express their appreciation for the excellent care provided by the staff of Christ Hospital. They would also like to thank the staff at UC Medical Center and Queen City Hospice.
