USA Network Developing ‘Apex’ Conspiracy Thriller Drama From Alcon TV

USA has put in development Apex, an hourlong drama from Alcon Television Group (Syfy’s The Expanse). Penned by husband-and-wife writing duo

Adam Alleca (The Last House On The Left) and Ashley Christine Beyer (Print), Apex centers on a female assassin who saves the life of a teenage outcast and the two form an unlikely bond. Finding themselves at the heart of a dangerous conspiracy involving corrupt politicians, lawless mega-corporations, underworld thugs and a particularly crafty aging serial killer, this newly formed “family” fights for their survival while uncovering the truth.

Executive producing the project are Alleca, Beyer, Alcon co-founders and co-CEOs Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson and Alcon TV President Sharon Hall. Alcon TV Group President of Development Ben Roberts will serve as producer.

This marks the TV debut for Alleca, repped by UTA and Industry Entertainment. In addition to the 2009 Universal thriller The Last House On The Left — Alleca’s first produced feature screenplay — his credits also include Cell, a Stephen King feature adaptation starring John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson, for release by Clarius Entertainment later this year, and Home, a thriller produced by Appian Way, GK Films and Blumhouse, starring Topher Grace and Genesis Rodriguez. He also wrote and directed the thriller Standoff, starring Laurence Fishburne and Thomas Jane, which just wrapped postproduction, and The Blob, a remake of the classic monster movie, with Jackson starring and Simon West directing.

In addition to upcoming Syfy series The Expanse, Alcon TV has drama Ice, co-written by Oscar winner Ron Bass & Game Of Thrones co-executive producer Vince Gerardis and to be directed by Antoine Fuqua, in the works at DirecTV.
