Previously under the name Aceras anthropophorum. It grows in calcareous soil, grassy habitats, woodland margins and garrigue.

A tuberous perennial having enlarged underground structures for storage of nutrients.

Flowers

Each small flower of this orchid resembles a human figure, the sepals and petals in the form of a helmet, the ‘head’, with ‘arms’ and ‘legs’ formed by the lobes of the lip. The flowers are greenish-yellow with purple stripes.

Leaves

Elliptic oval leaf, Lanceolate leaf is lance-shaped: long and widest in the middle. Basal rosette, oval to long, blunt, pale green.

Fruits Seeds

Capsule: numerous seeds.
