Possibly the most beautiful flower of the White Mountains, Anchusa cespitosa is an endemic flower of the White Mountains. It has tiny dazzling blue flowers and like almost all the plants growing in the high desert. this one needs the hair on its leaves to collect the little humidity there is at night.

It grows between 1600 and 2200 metres and flowers from May to July. The Cretan shepherds call it blávi which means 'blue'.
