Dorsal view of clonal cluster of plants submersed in a small dish of water. The plant bodies are connected to each other by long, tapering stalks (red arrow). No other California Lemna grows completely submersed and has long connecting stalks. Note: The submersed plant bodies of this species of Lemna are often rootless.
