EUPATORIUM sordidum

Description

Mexican evergreen shrub which can quickly grow 2 meters tall and large. Its wide leaves are deep green and slightly tomentose. During late spring they become the frame for a rich and unusual blooming characterized by wide and low inflorescences, of a particular tone between blue and lilac.

Suggestions

It needs sunny or semi-shaded positions in order to obtain a well colored blooming. Soil must be drained, fertile and moist. This plant benefits from constant and regular summer irrigations; on the contrary it doesn't tolerate drought periods. It can also be grown in wide containers, which will be sheltered in the coldest periods in order to avoid damages due to prolonged frosts. After blooming, strong pruning can improve both shape and tillering of the plant.
