Description:

 This is a genus of five or six species native to Asia. The genus is closely related to the podocarpus genus and was separated from it by characters of the strobili. This evergreen conifer is native to China. It has a pyramidal shape and broad, flattened leaves that a you might not recognize as a conifer's leaf. Like podocarpus, it has a drupe-like, fleshy fruit-like strobilus instead of a cone.

Size:

A medium sized tree to about forty feet tall.

Care Instructions:

Light: full sun to part shade

Water: moderately drought tolerant when established, may benefit from irrigation during prolonged drought

Soil: very adaptable, no special requirements
