Plant of the Day

Sunday 14 March 2021

There are a number of winter flowering shrubs including Lonicera elisae (Elisa's honeysuckle, shrub honeysuckle). This twiggy, upright, deciduous shrub can be a free standing plant or if space is short it can be trained against a fence or wall. The delicate hanging, trumpet-shaped flowers are cream, flushed with pink, and appear from mid-winter to early spring, followed by red berries. The spring foliage is purple and turns green in summer.
