Alice Lewis

Lake Havasu City, Ariz., resident Alice Lorraine (Reeves) Lewis died at her home on Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2024. She was 93.

Born Alice Lorraine Reeves in Los Angeles, Calif., she graduated from Garfield Union High School in June of 1948. She married JV Lewis the following month and they soon moved to Northern California to begin their family and lives together. She was a homemaker who both supported her husband in running his pool construction business and raised her children by volunteering in their classrooms, teaching Sunday School and leading a Girl Scout Troop.

She moved to Lake Havasu with her husband and youngest child in 1980, where she engaged in a variety of volunteer activities to help build the growing community.

During her years here, she participated in a number of clubs and organizations, including the Friends of the Library, the Lake Havasu Republican Women, the National Society Colonial Dames XVIIC, the Lake Havasu Genealogical Society, The Lake Havasu Historical Society & Museum, and the Havasu Chapter of NSDAR, where she was an honorary regent. She was also a member of the Hospital Auxiliary, where she proudly volunteered over 2,200 hours. She loved the Christmas holiday season and hosted many Christmas parties at her home over the years to share her love of exuberant holiday decoration.

She was a wife, a mother, a genealogist (who travelled thousands of miles to document her finds), and a community volunteer. She believed in Not Wearing White After Labor Day, Writing Thank You Notes, and Always Being Punctual. She believed in sharing your good fortune with others, and thanking God during times of Plenty, and turning to Him during times of Sorrow and Loss.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her siblings Curtis and Shirley, and husband of more than 47 years, JV Lewis. Survivors include her children, Kathleen (Michael) Williams of Weaverville, Robert (Melody) of Paradise, Calif., James of San Jose, Calif., and Stacey, of Lake Havasu City. She is survived by five grandchildren.

The family would also like to thank the helpers and caregivers who came into our home and made it possible for our mother to spend her last months in the home that she loved. Special thanks to Crystal and Cindy from Desert Hearts Nursing & Home Care, and Gina (and her little man). Your compassion and respect for our mother’s wishes and dignity made you part of our family, even if only for a little while.

A private family service will be held in California at a later time.
