The Old English Sheepdog is a large breed of dog that emerged in England from early types of herding dog. Obsolete names for the breed include Shepherd's Dog and bob-tailed sheep-dog. The nickname Bob-tail originates from how dogs of the breed traditionally had their tails docked.

Old English Sheepdogs are not Hypoallergenic.

The distinctive, thick double coat adapted over the years to the environment he worked in and the sheep he worked with. The coat is insulating and waterproof, protecting the dog during chilly, wet winters and warm summers. His coat also gives him a woolly look that allows him to blend in with the flock of sheep.

Grooming:Old English Sheepdogs shed a moderate to heavy amount of hair year round, and they have a thick double coat that requires above average maintenance. However, they don't shed seasonally. Regular brushing with a slicker brush and undercoat rake will help you maintain his coat and reduce shedding.

Old English Sheepdogs have a real sense of humor, and can be quite the clowns. But they are also very smart and versatile. Some consider them to be stubborn, but with proper training, they can take the dog sport world by storm.

Regular exercise is required for these strong, able-bodied workers. Equally famed are their many amazing housedog qualities: watchfulness, courage, kindliness, and intelligence. Great with children, OES make patient, protective playmates. They are sensible watchdogs known for a loud, ringing bark. This breed is loving, family pet that needs plenty of human attention!

Old English Sheepdog lifespan is 10-12 years.

Weight: Female: 60–80 lbs,  Male: 70–100 lbs

Height: Female: 20–22 in, Male: 22–24 in
