The African Butterfly Fish (Pantodon Buchholzi) has a long, slender, vertically compressed body, and long flowing fins resembling butterfly wings. Its body is typically brown or green with spots and stripes for camouflage. Its large mouth and sharp teeth allow it to eat insects, small fish, and other aquatic organisms. These physical features allow it to thrive in slow-moving or stagnant waters with dense vegetation. The African Butterfly fish is a top dwelling species that normally remains dormant near the water's surface.
