Water chemistry: | Hard and alkaline: pH 7.6-8.6 ; GH 7 plus ; KH 10-12 ideally, but at least 5-6. |
Feeding: | Feeds on aufwuchs and algae - include a vegetable component in the diet. |
Sexing: | Colouration of males and females is identical. Males are normally bolder. |

This species can be quite aggressive for its size, particularly towards conspecifics (i.e. others of its own species), or
similar coloured species.
