Remember Children’s Ward? You won’t believe how many of your favourite stars started out on the ITV kids’ show
Coronation Street and Emmerdale snapped most of them up
IF you were one of the millions racing home from school to watch CITV in the 80s and 90s you'll definitely remember Children's Ward.
It was kind of like a kids' Holby City, so it was set in the ward on a made up children's hospital.

The stories focused on the kids who were being treated and the staff looking after them, and looking back over it is a veritable who's who of TV stars today.
Tim Vincent
Back before he made it big as a Blue Peter presenter, Tim starred as alcoholic teenager Billy Ryan for a couple of years.

The role was the start of a stellar career which has seen Tim presenting a few Miss World contestants and presenting US TV show.
Jane Danson
Well, she's hardly changed at all has she?
Jane was Paula in the show, who had a pretty tough time of it. After getting a leg disease which saw her confined to a wheelchair, Paula recovered but then had a climbing accident.

Jane went on to join Coronation Street (get ready for that, there's a few more coming) where she plays Leanne Battersby.

You probably recognise her as young mum Sarah-Louise Platt who fell pregnant at 13 on Coronation Street, and she caused quite a stir in school show Waterloo Road too.

Chris was JJ on the show, and he's carved out a brilliant soap career since.
He's been on Corrie, but is probably best known for his role as Jai Sharma in Emmerdale. He also went into the jungle for I'm A Celeb in 2003.
Will Mellor

Will starred as Ben Rowlingson in the series, and it was his first big role.
After leaving he scored the part of Jambo in Hollyoaks, and he's been in loads since then including Waterloo Road and Broadchurch.

Anthony was on the show for three series as Scott Morris.
That was just the start though, and he went on to play Marc Reynolds in Emmerdale for four years.
Since then he's been in Boy A and Torchwood.
William Ash

William's had a huge career since Children's Ward and is one of those faces you will definitely recognise.
His credits include Waterloo Road, Shameless, Doctor Who, and more recently he was in Death in Paradise.

Who knew Combo from This Is England started off on Children's Ward?
He did though, and he's arguably the biggest star to come out of it.
These days he's known for playing Al Capone in Boardwalk Empire and he was in some of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies too.

Corrie of course! She played Vicky McDonald in the soap during the 90s, and she's been in The Bill too.

Yep, it's another Coronation Street star. You have to wonder who'd be treading the Cobbles if it wasn't for Children's Ward.
After appearing on the show she got her big break when she scored the role of Maria on the soap - after fighting off Suzanne Shaw and Kimberley Walsh.

Yes, it's another one who now rocks Weatherfield, but before he was Tyrone Alan starred on Children's Ward.
He's since been nominated for soap awards for his Corrie role, plus he appeared in Heartbeat and Queer as Folk.

Amazingly, this is one who isn't best known for being on a soap.
Ralf started out on Children's Ward, but his biggest role is definitely as Antony in The Royle Family.
He's got a massive CV too, including appearing in Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps, Heartbeat, Lewis and The Cafe.
All of those are before we even get to Adele Silva (now on Emmerdale) and Nikki Sanderson (Corrie THEN Hollyoaks)...
