Commonly known as Whitebeam, “Lutescens” is a medium-sized, deciduous tree. It features leaves that emerge with a silver colouring in spring, age to become grey-green, then develop yellow tones in autumn before falling. Small, cream-white flowers in spring result in red-orange berries in autumn which are great for attracting birds. It typically grows to 10 m tall and 6 m wide with a broad and rounded crown, performing best when planted in full sun on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of frost, cool climates, and periods of dry. “Lutescens” is commonly grown as a specimen, included in a mixed planting in a large garden, or used in avenue plantings.
