“John Ball” is a large and colourful, deciduous shrub. It becomes enshrined by masses of showy, rich yellow flowers from autumn through early winter. The foliage is mid-green and develops yellow tones in autumn before falling. It typically grows with a rounded shrub to 3 m tall and the same wide and can be trimmed as necessary. Best results with this plant are achieved when it is grown in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site. It is tolerant of frost and cool climates though early frosts can shorten flowering. “John Ball” is commonly included in a mixed planting, grown as a specimen, or used as a backdrop for smaller plants.
