Ferocactus hamatacanthus

Native range: Northwest Mexico

Known names: Turk's Head Cactus, Fish Hook Cactus, Texas Barrel Cactus

Hardiness: Can take temperatures slightly below freezing, hardier in the cold if dry.

Mature Size: ~12" tall x ~12" wide

Light: Best in full sun.

Water: Can take dryer conditions but grows faster with regular watering in summer. Keep dryer in winter

Soil: Succulent mix

Dormancy Period: Winter

Pet-Safe: No

Plant Size: Grown in 2.5" pot

 

Yellow flowers in summer. Hooked spines emerges maroon, fades to cream.
