What educators are saying

This resource was complete and useful. Students were able to approach questions with ease and instruction went smoothly.
I always show the last two acts of the play, and this really helped give that activity a little more substance. Great resource!

Description

Friends, teachers, Shakespeare lovers! Lend me your eyes! The following eight-page study guide film packet is used to accompany the Joseph Mankiewicz-directed 1953 film "Julius Caesar," which is a faithful adaptation of William Shakespeare's play of the same name. This study guide can be used in a drama, English, film studies, or media studies class. The first page contains a list of cast and crew and a background and introduction on the film. The second page is a page that allows viewers to jot and take down their own notes. Pages three to seven contain comprehension questions to guide the viewer on the work's acting, camera movement, characterization, cinematography, (central, external, and internal) conflict, costume design, dialect, diction, editing, foreshadowing, inferences, dramatic irony, editing, foreshadowing, mise en scene, mood, plot, setting, sound design, story, suspense, and themes. The eighth page contains discussion questions on the acting, casting, characterization, filmmaking choices, scene omissions, and themes.

This packet can be used by itself with the movie or can be used as a supplementary activity to a reading of the play. Enjoy!
