Jay Weinstein, A Collector’s Guide to Judaica, London: Thames & Hudson, 1985, p. 107, fig. 130.

In Hebrew around the rim: “On the first day you shall take the product of hadar trees, branches of palm trees, boughs of leafy trees, and willows of the brook, and you shall rejoice before the Lord your God seven days” (Lev. 23:40).

Below, above the double doors and to the right: “The city of Shechem,” and to the left: “Jericho.”

Hirschel Pekkar, also known as Zvi, was a Chabad Hasid who lived in London before moving to Crown Heights, Brooklyn. For a very similar etrog box by the artist, see Sotheby's, New York, The Arthur and Gitel Marx Collection, November 20, 2019, lot 275.
