2. WHAT IS ALOE VERA?
ALOE VERA is an important stemless or very short-
stemmed plant growing to 60–100 cm (24–39 in) tall,
spreading by offsets.
3. ALOE VERA PLANT
The leaves are thick and fleshy, green to grey-green, with
some varieties showing white flecks on their upper and
lower stem surfaces. The margin of the leaf is serrated and
has small white teeth.
The flowers are produced in summer on a spike up to
90 cm (35 in) tall, each flower being pendulous, with a
yellow tubular corolla 2–3 cm (0.8–1.2 in) long Like
other Aloe species, Aloe Vera forms arbuscular mycorrhiza,
a symbiosis that allows the plant better access to mineral
nutrients in soil.
Aloe vera leaves contain phytochemicals under study for
possible bioactivity, such as acetylated mannans,
polymannans, anthraquinone C-glycosides, anthrones,
other anthraquinones, such as emodin and various lectins.

7. Aloe Barbadenis miller is used for medicinal purposes and
is known as best species of aloe vera.
There is large-scale agricultural production of Aloe vera in
Australia, Bangladesh, Cuba,the Dominican Republic,
China, Mexico, India, Jamaica, Kenya, Tanzania and South
Africa, along with the USA to supply the cosmetics
industry, but this species is found in AFRICA only.

Aloe juice should not be taken in excess, it causes

It should not be taken by the people suffering from
diabetes, especially by people who have low blood sugar
level, because aloe vera lowers blood sugar level
People who are taking drugs containing steroids, digoxin
or lanoxin, diuretics and drugs that cause loss of
potassium from the body should not drink this juice.
People who are suffering from irregular heartbeat should
not drink this juice
Excess and regular intake of aloe vera juice can also cause
laxative dependency

12. HOW TO DRINK ALOE VERA?
Cut a leaf from aloe vera plant and wash it. Peel
off the external cover using a knife. Take out the
gel from the aloe vera leaf. Now, grind this gel and
drink it
Dosage – Add two teaspoons of this juice to a
glass full of water and drink it twice or once in a
day. Do not drink concentrated juice; it causes
fewer side effects when you drink it in diluted
form
You will get pure juice of Aloe vera in the market.
Aloe juice blended with other juices like orange
and pineapple is also available. You can also drink
this juice or you can blend the juice prepared at
you at home with fruit juices and drink

14. This is not a good idea for two reasons:
The outer skin of the leaf is highly toxic, it is the plants
natural defence against being eaten in the wild
If the product has been filtered to remove the parts of
the outer skin that are toxic, nutritious parts of the gel

A top quality drink should have a similar consistency to freshly
squeezed grapefruit juice, bits and all.
It should also have a strong taste, which many people find
unpleasant to begin with. But if you think grapefruit juice before
you take your first gulp you shouldn't be too surprised!
