Indian turnip is a homeopathic remedy used to treat colds, coughs, and sore throats. It acts primarily on the mucous membranes of the mouth, throat, and lungs, causing inflammation and destruction of tissues. Symptoms include a runny nose with raw, sore nostrils; constant nose-picking that causes bleeding; and aphonia or loss of voice after exposure to wind. The remedy is characterized by acrid discharges that burn and excoriate surfaces, and a tendency of the patient to pick or bore into raw, bleeding areas.
