Perfect for small gardens & pots

‘Pincushion Pink’ forms a neat dwarf mound of finely cut foliage, with the flowers sitting atop, like a flock of settled butterflies.
So it is the perfect plant for small gardens and containers.
Plus it is evergreen, very hardy, and easy to grow – all qualities that make it worthy to occupy scarce garden space.
Or in larger flower beds you can plant it to make a neat and almost perpetual flowering front edge. Or underplanting below larger plants such as roses.

Easy care obliging plant

Plant ‘Pincushion Pink’ in Full Sun to Part Shade.
Where it is a very obliging plant, tolerating a wide range of soils including clay.
And rarely if ever troubled by pests or diseases, or the need for pruning or trimming.

Scabiosa columbaria f. nana ‘Pincushion Pink’ forms a dainty, pretty, evergreen perennial clump. 25cm. High x 25cm Wide.

SEED SOWING ADVICE: EASY

Sow at any time of year in punnets indoors.

Sow indoors for quick plants & early flowers: Sow in a punnet on the surface of good quality seed raising mix.
Then gently press the seeds to the surface of the mix to ensure good contact.
Now barely cover with 2mm of sieved mix/sand/grit.

Thoroughly moisten the mix through by placing the sown punnet in a shallow water bath, so the moisture percolates through to the top from below.

Then place the punnet in a warm, well lit spot (but not in direct sunlight).

Temperatures of 18-21°C approx. are best for rapid and optimum germination.

Seedlings begin to emerge in approx. 14-21 days.

But do not discard the punnet too quickly as some some seeds may continue to germinate later. This is a natural cunning trick by the plant to stagger the germination, trying to give it’s seeds a sporting chance that some will germinate into favourable weather conditions.
