Otherwise known as White Perfection Pincushions.
And White Perfection is a well earned name.

Commercial quality cut flowers

Fortunately Scabiosa caucasica are very long and repeat blooming plants, with a parade of flowers over summer and autumn.
And these showy blooms are held on long, strong, clean stems, high above a neat, low foliage rosette.
So together with the fact that they are very long lasting when cut in vases, it makes them commercial quality floristry flowers.
As well as excellent for garden display.

Hardy & easy to grow

Scabiosa caucasica ‘Perfecta Alba’ is very hardy & easy to grow, and can be planted in Sun to Part Shade.
Where it tolerates a wide range of soil types, and conveniently on both the acid and alkaline lime side of neutral Ph.

However they do respond generously to fertilizer and mulch, with even more flowers on parade for ages.

Frost hardy & water-wise

Plus they are very frost hardy, tolerating frost to at least -20°C.
And once established, the hardy perennial clumps can get through of periods of dry with a minimum of water usage.
So they are well rated as water-wise plants, able to exist on low to medium watering regimes, as long as the soil is well drained. Mulch certainly helps.
But they will not hang around in water-logged sites for more than a moment.

Rabbit, deer & pest resistant

Scabiosa caucasica ‘Perfecta Alba’ forms an evergreen perennial clump, that is absolutely no trouble to have.
And it is rarely if ever troubled by any pests or diseases, including rabbits and deer.

SEED SOWING ADVICE: QUICK & EASY
Suits beginners & gardening with kids

Sow Scabiosa caucasica ‘Perfecta Alba’ seeds at any time of year in punnets indoors / or scatter in the garden in spring & autumn.

Indoors for fast & early plants: First sow the seeds in a punnet on the surface of good quality seed raising mix.
Now press the seeds gently onto the surface of the mix to ensure good contact.
But barely cover the seeds with sieved mix, as light is needed for germination.

Then place the sown punnet in a warm, well-lit position (but not in direct sunlight).
Keep moist but not wet.
You can use a temperature controlled heat mat if you have one, but this is not essential.

Temperatures of 18-21°C approx. are best for rapid and optimum germination.

Seedlings emerge in approx. 10-21 days.

Seed Count: 10 seeds per pack approximately.
(We always aim to exceed the stated seed count, and give a generous serve).
