      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Rambo III finds its justice-dispensing hero far from the thoughtful drama that marked the franchise's beginning -- and just as far from quality action thriller entertainment.

Keith Uhlich UGO Engages the plight of the Mujahideen with a humanizing, doc-like approach (fascinating to witness, all these years later, when the ally/enemy tables have turned so drastically). Jun 14, 2008 Full Review Kim Newman Empire Magazine Strays slightly from the formula and therefore loses some of its mindless fun credentials. Rated: 2/5 Jan 14, 2008 Full Review Variety Staff Variety Always at ground zero in the chaos is Rambo -- gloriously, inhumanly impervious to fear and danger -- whose character is inhabited by Stallone with messianic intensity. Jan 14, 2008 Full Review Keith Garlington Keith & the Movies It’s lighter, the action is energetic, and the cheese adds to the experience. Rated: 4/5 Aug 24, 2022 Full Review Rene Jordan El Nuevo Herald (Miami) Rambo III is not a movie. It is a trading company… such a monotonous rumble was putting me to sleep. Tomy J Writing in for this movie took a nose dive compared to the first 2. More of a properganda movie and mindless action over telling a great action story movie. Worst movie in the Series by far, an easy skip unless your a full on Rambo/First Blood Fan Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/26/24 Full Review Dinos K John Rambo on a training mission in Afghanistan. The movie tells the ugly truth, US Army was behind Mujahideen's terrorist attacks in 9/11 because the made the monster. Karma, ladies and gentlemen, Karma Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/30/24 Full Review Alec B However problematic the second one is, at least it was never this boring. An entirely perfunctory and unimaginative action film. The ending is memorable for reasons they obviously didn't intend at the time. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 12/13/23 Full Review Petar P I like this movie. Stalone performance was alsome! One of my Favarite moveis in the 80! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 11/07/23 Full Review Erik H I like this movie all of yall hate it this is just weird no reason to hate it Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/26/23 Full Review Petros T Even weaker than the already average part two, the unsurprisingly Americentric "Rambo III" is essentially a collection of explosions and rapid gunfire on top of a predictable, basic storyline. The acting is mediocre, the dialogues cringy and the closeups really ridiculous, while Rambo himself has been degraded to a cartoonish video game character. The only good part is the attack on the village, which, positioned right after the game sequence, does a decent job at conveying the brutality of war.
