IN SHED UPDATE SOON Juvenile Leopard gecko - Eublepharis macularius

Leopard Gecko Want to have a cool pet that not a lot of your friends will have? Consider a Leopard Gecko. They have a very docile temperament and are easily handled. To better understand the Leopard Gecko as a pet reptile, we must first understand it’s instincts as a animal. The Leopard Gecko is from the same family of reptiles of the more scarcely found Fat-Tailed Gecko. They share many of the same characteristics of their less easily found cousin down to their cute chubby little tail which holds water for the animal in the warm heat of their natural environments. In the wild the Leopard Gecko is terrestrial and often is found in moist hiding spots. They don’t have an aggressive nature making them a great first pet reptile. These are readily available in most big box pet stores but fancy colors and captive bred animals are harder to find in big box stores. We provide an amazing selection of captive bred Leopard Geckos and we always try to have as many morphs available to pick from as possible. Size of reptile: 6.5 - 8 inches full grown

    • Daytime Terrarium Temperature: 78-85° F
    • Basking Spot: 90° F
    • Nighttime Temperature: 70-72°F
    • It is important to create a thermal gradient in your terrarium. This can be accomplished by providing a Basking Spot Lamp and an Under Tank Heater on one side of the terrarium. By focusing the heating elements on one side of the cage, you will naturally provide the proper thermal gradient.
    • Although these nocturnal animals will not generally bask, providing a basking spot will maintain proper temperatures in your terrarium.
    • Any of Zoo Med’s thermometers will help you keep a close eye on terrarium temperatures.
    • New studies have shown that Leopard Geckos will greatly benefit from exposure to UVB lighting.
