Codium convolutum (Dellow) P.C.Silva, 1962
Codium convolutum is endemic to New Zealand shores and is widely distributed on moderately sheltered shores. This green algae grows tightly adherent to rocky surfaces, forming dense, irregularly-lobed cushions 2–3 cm thick and up to 20 cm in diameter.
This seaweed forms irregular dark green lobed covering on rocks with a velvet like appearance, hence the common name "rock velvet" for the species.
Synonymised names:
Codium adhaerens var. convolutum Dellow, 1952 (synonym)
