A rare and little-known palm, native to humid forests in the eastern Himalayas to Yunnan in western China. It forms small clusters of short stems that hold several leaves with numerous leaflets that have jagged edges and are dark green above and silvery below. Like other species of Wallichia, it is an easy to grow plant and will succeed in many temperate as well as topical climates. It does best in the shade of an existing canopy.
