From eastern and central Brazil to 1200 m (3900 ft.) asl comes this unusual, clustering Syagrus. It grows to only 1-5 m (3-16 ft.) tall with slim trunks just 5-8 cm (2-3 in.) through, and has pretty, plumose leaves AND a bonus of edible fruits! It is really attractive as an ornamental and should be more widely grown. Just perfect as a specimen on a small lawn in warm temperate to tropical areas.
