Few ornamental shrubs can match the presence of this stunning plant in the Araliaceae, native to rainforests on the island of New Caledonia. It grows a largely unbranched, slender trunk that holds a dense crown of very large, undulate, paddle shaped leaves. It adapts to warm temperate and tropical climates in USDA Zones 10 and above and will thrive in humid, protected conditions under some canopy.
