This stately species from montane forests from Northeast India, Myanmar and northern Thailand (to 1200 m (4000 ft.) is arguably the most beautiful of all the Livistona. It produces a dense crown of very large, flat, circular leaves that are only shallowly split, and a tall, columnar, gray trunk. In cultivation it is suitable for a range of climates from warm temperate to tropical.
