Great website! I was immensely surprised at the germination rates, that's not what I'm accustomed to...

A well-known and much-loved tropical palm with a spindle-shaped, swollen trunk, a thick, bluish-gray crownshaft and stiffly ascending, pinnate leaves with yellowish midribs especially in young plants. It is native only to Rodrigues Island, far out in the Indian Ocean east of Mauritius, where it was once very common but is now reduced to a few individuals on some remote mountain ridges. The Spindle Palm is quick to germinate, easily cultivated, and fast growing, making it ideal for the tropical or frost-free subtropical garden, or as an attractive indoor specimen for a brightly lit spot.
