Glossy leaves with broad, elliptic leaflets distinguish this attractive palm native to rainforests in southern Mexico and Central America. Easy to care for in the manner of other Chamaedorea palms and tolerant of low light, it makes a good and useful house plant even for a poorly lit corner. Alternatively, in the warm temperate to tropical garden, it is an excellent addition to the list of shade-tolerant palms that are highly attractive and very rewarding to grow at the same time.
