An interesting medium-sized conifer to about 15 m (50 ft.) tall, native from central and southern China to Myanmar. It makes a great specimen plant but also prunes very well and can be shaped into a hedge. The plum-like fruits are reportedly edible and used as a cancer treatment. It is very hardy to frost (below -20°C (-4°F)) and can be grown in most temperate regions.
