A beautiful, dry deciduous desert shrub rarely more than 1.5 m tall, with a gnarly, thick, succulent trunk with peeling, papery bark and small, pinnate, fragrant foliage with delightful citrus notes. Bursera fagaroides is distributed in the Sonoran Desert in Baja California and Sonora, Mexico, as well as in scrubland and dry deciduous forests in central and southern Mexico. It makes a highly attractive and immensely drought tolerant ornamental for dry climates in USDA Zones 10 and above.
