A very rare and highly ornamental, dry deciduous shrub with beautiful peeling red to yellowish bark, very fragrant, soft wood and tiny leaves and seeds. Bursera arida is native to scrubland in Oaxaca and Puebla, Mexico. It adapts well to most dry, warm climates but is practically unknown in cultivation. It makes a spectacular bonsai plant.
