A rare, small tree with entire, oblong leaves and whitish flowers followed by fruits with spiky yellow skin that turns black. The fruits are edible, with delicious, sweet, whitish translucent flesh. They store well if refrigerated. Annona neosalicifolia is native to rainforests in southeastern Bolivia, Paraguay, central-western and southern Brazil and northern Argentina at low to moderate elevations. In cultivation it is best suited to tropical and warm temperate climates and is one of the more cold tolerant Annona.
