A rare, small tree to about 12 m (40 ft) tall with simple oblong leaves and pale yellow flowers followed by creamy-yellowish fruits with spiky skin. The fruits are edible and have a delicious, sweet flesh. They store well if refrigerated. Annona neolaurifolia is native to rainforests, semi-deciduous forests and gallery forests in southeastern Brazil to 1500 m (5000 ft). In cultivation it is best suited to tropical and warm temperate climates.
