Yellow Mountain-Heather

Low-growing matted shrub with much-branched erect stems. Twigs hairy. Leaves to 1/3 in., needle-like, dark green, with edges rolled under. Flowers greenish yellow, solitary on hairy green stalks. Fused petals form a 1/3 in. long unopened bell, with 5 small spreading lobes. Flowers and stalks sticky with glands. Grows in subalpine and alpine on rocky sites in seeps and bogs. Also found in lower washes and at sea level in Prince William Sound.
