Brochis britski irritations...

Post by joern »

Hello,

there is a new picture of Brochis britski in the catelog:
http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/ca ... s/50_4.PHP
Is that the "real" B.bristki ? It looks somewhat different from the other types shown of this fish.

Some time ago I showed my specimen in this thread:

The specimen shown in the catelog looks somewhat similar to those shown in the third post (those signed as copyright UdoWesemeyer).
In the 10th post I showed some pictures made by RalfRombach:

This type seems te be similar to the specimen shown by Al in this thread:

A beautyfill fish but different from the first type.

All these are in the trade and sold as "Brochis britski".
Obvioulsy they look somewhat different, and compares to the original description of Njissen& Isbrücker they are not B.britskii.

Typical for B.bristkii is a shield below is head, so I made a pic of my fish from below:

It looks different from the species discription of Njissen& Isbrücker anyway...its more a flexible piece of skin or so...
14 soft rays in the dorsal fin.
Now my largest has grown up to at least 13cm TL.
Probably a new species....

Any chance to get the "real" britskii somewhere ?
best regards
Joern
