Semi-longhair cat breeds
Semi-longhair cats boast a beautiful coat, but just like their long-haired counterparts, they'll need an owner to commit to plenty of grooming. Would your home and lifestyle be suitable for this type of cat? Take a look at our profile to help you decide.
Examples of semi-longhair cat breeds include:
- Birman
- Ragdoll
Living with a semi-longhair cat
From the distinctive fur pattern of the Birman to the super-cute pointy ears of a Ragdoll cat, semi-longhair breeds have a lot to offer.
The Birman is a generally very friendly breed that loves to spend time with its owners and, much like the Ragdoll, they love attention. The Ragdoll breed is known for being relaxed and both these breeds make lovely family pets.
Advantages
These types of cat just love mental and physical activity. They love to play, and are very clever, so you may even be able to teach them a trick or two!
Disadvantages
As attention-seeking as they are, Sphynx cats and Abyssinians don't often cope well with other pets or small children, so are best kept as the only pet in a house without children. Bengals and Russian Blues need to be occupied, so they perhaps won't suit a home where they'll be left alone for long periods of time.
