A smartphone from Palm that was introduced in 2009 exclusively with Sprint in the U.S. Following the huge success of the iPhone, Palm introduced the webOS-based Pre with a slide-out keyboard and multitasking, the latter not yet available on the iPhone. Although initially acclaimed, the Pre line never achieved much success. The Pre was followed by several models (Pre 2, Pre 3, Pre Pixi, Pixi Plus), but in 2010 after Palm was acquired by HP, the line was dropped. See Palm Incorporated and webOS.

The Palm Pre Smartphone A physical keyboard slid out from the bottom, but quality issues with the mechanism plagued the device. The phone was charged by placing it on the base station, a unique feature at that time. See wireless charging.
