Common Name The Without a Staminoda Phragmipedium - In Chiapas - Tanal de Bigotes

Flower Size 3.2 to 4" [8 to 10 cm] wide

Found in Chiapas, Mexico and Guatemala in wet montane rainforests and elfin forests at elevations around 950 to 1350 [1700] meters as a small to medium sized, warm to cool growing epiphytic or rupicolous orchid with disitichous, conduplicate, ligulate, obtuse to subacute, unequally bilobed, coriaceous, carinate leaves held in a losose, fan-shape that blooms in the late spring and early summer on an axillary, racemose, 10 to 20" [25 to 50 cm] long, velvety, 1 to 4, simultaneously flowered inflorescence.
