Flower Size 1" [2.5 cm]

Found in Nicaragua in wet montane cloud forests at elevations of 400 to 1500 meters as a small sized, hot to cool growing epiphyte with a short stem enveloped completely by several imbricating sheaths with the uppermost few being foliaceous with elliptical, acute leaves that gradually narrow into a conduplicate petiole and blooms in the spring on 3 to 4, basal, erect, 3 3/5" [9 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence enveloped by 2 to 3 elongate, tubular, acuminate sheaths holding the flower at mid leaf. This species differs from the other more common Central American species C lendyana by it's larger flower, creamy yellow color instead of bright chrome yellow, and red-violet stripes as well as the much more erect and broad leafed plant.
