Coelogyne cristata is a species found across the Himalayan region. In the wild this species is found in montane forest as an epiphyte at elevations between 1,500 to 2,600 metres. The inflorescences bear several flowers that measure 7cm across. The plant blooms during the winter months and into early spring.

This plant is flowering size and is growing in a pot. Grow Coelogyne cristata on a mount, or in a pot or basket with a medium and fine bark mix with moss on top. Grow plants in moderate to bright light, and never in direct sunlight. Plants do not like to dry out and need excellent quality water. Plants grow well in an intermediate to cool greenhouse and appreciate night-time temperatures of 13 to 16 degrees and daytime temperatures of 24 to 28 degrees. Plants grow well indoors and will flower if given sufficient light and a difference between day and night temperature are provided.
