Description and Ethnobotany

Growth Form Woody climber up to 20 m long.
Foliage Round to heart-shaped leaves (9 cm long, 7.5 cm wide) have 2 glands at the base of the leaf blade. The tendrils are 5-7 cm long.
Fruit Bright red fruits break into 3 parts at dehiscence. Rough, disk-shaped seeds are surrounded by fleshy tissue known as arils.
Ethnobotanical Uses Medicinal: According to Indonesian folk medicine, the stem sap can be used to treat eye inflammation.
