Myrmecodia tuberosa, also known as the ant plant, is an epiphytic native plant that has a symbiotic relationship with certain ant species which use the hollow body of the plant as a shelter and defend the plant from other insects.  Ants also provide nutrients to the plant through their waste, helping it to thrive.  This unique relationship is an example of the complex ways in which different species can interact with nature.

Plants can easily be grown indoors or outdoors in warmer climates, but they need protection or heating in cooler climates.  In southern states, they many only be grown indoors in heated rooms or greenhouses.  In colder areas the plants should be kept on the dry side in winter and watered well but allowed to almost dry out in the summer.

Comes in a 60mm pot.
