Getting 4 doesn't mean getting a pair.
I have always stuck with my rule of getting 6-8 for a pair. Never failed me yet.
As for info about them, it's pretty much standard Sub-tropical Channa care.

Aim for 18c for most of the year, a little warmer maybe for summer months.
Very aggressive (IME) even toward their own.
Densely planted tank, plenty of hideouts.
Lots of floating plants are great, dim lights, low current.

As with all my Channa I add Kettapang leaves to the tank.
IMO, tank size for a pair should be no less than 90cm x 60cm x 60cm

you mean 18 c? ok that means i can lower the heater as much as possible. you think it will be aproblem if the water is much warmer during the summer? it could reach 26 c then

Hi,

you dont neeed a heater at all.
And if the temp reaches 26 °C in summer it should be no problem, if its only for a short period, AND if you are able to lower the temp to 18-19°C during wintertime.

Stewartii feed on insects and freshwater shrimp. Dont overfeed them, subtropicals can get fat very soon, which often gets them infertile.

I'm sure that I don't need to say this, but channa are illegal in your city.
I don't have heaters on my sub-tropical channa tanks. 26C is high, but the channa can handle it if it's just for summer.

i'm in germany. They are not illegal here. Ok so i'll put the heater out of my tank. My room temp is between 16c in winter and much warmer in summer.

Looking good.
Personally a thick jungle and more top cover (like duckweed) would be even better.

What happened to the Ornate that was in there?
