Sorry I'm not comfortable shipping. If it is a Suttonorum that explains why the cost went up. The big ones were $600.

There are no Panaque suttonorum in the hobby. All exporters almost always list the BEC as Panaque suttonorum which is incorrect. BEC are now banned from export from Colombia. They either come from Río Cauca, Magdalena River drainage, Colombia, Upper Río Magdalena, Colombia or Honda Colombia. Suttonorum come from Río Negro below Río Yasa mouth, Santa Ana River drainage, Maracaibo basin, Zulia State, Venezuela. My exporter in Colombia told me he knows of a person who went to jail after discovering the shipment had BEC.

There definitely ARE some in the hobby, but they’re from old imports.

OPs photos seem to show two different fish, the first photo is suttonorum, the second being cochliodon. Note the difference in shape of dorsal and pelvic fins.

The defining difference that makes the first one suttonorum are the pronounced odontodes which cover more of the body length, versus cochliodon which mainly has them near the caudal fin.

some photos of young suttonorum in the hobby which also show the pronounced odontodes:

A cochliodon which does NOT have the same coverage of odontodes along the body:

Until I see a Venezuelan exporter offering this fish to anywhere in the world with the proper catch location, I stand by what I say. The Panaque cf. cochliodon`upper magdalena` has the smooth dermal plates whereas the Panaque cochliodon has the more rough, spikey dermal plates. The Panaque suttonorum very closely resembles the Panaque cochliodon with the spikey dermal plates. Brazil exporters that offer any of the two above and claiming Suttonorum, are actually from Colombia. The Maracaibo basin is not even remotely close to a single person in Brazil and if there was a true Sutt, the price would be astronomical due to the logistics to get it there. Even in Colombia, the basin is far, far away, divided by mountains. I've talked to Heiko about this as well and he was in agreement. The only confirmed Sutt photos that have been correctly identified are on Planet Catfish or other sites that have used those photos and I believe one other site if I remember correctly. I imported this Blue eye that looked like a short body but was confirmed this is the original BE from Honda, Colombia. The BE you posted was mine as well. Is the OP selling one BE or two? Looks like one to me with the possibility the dorsal and tail grew back.honda.jpg

Op Blue eyes do resemble a suttoni with more visible spikes on the side but knowing SoCal I having seen any small ones pass through here.
Here’s my throw back pics of my Suttoni.
