In popular culture, kangaroos are cute animals that carry their adorably-named baby Joeys in pouches on their bellies. In real life, kangaroos are massive beasts with biceps the size of a normal human's leg.

Earlier this week, an Australian man stumbled onto a particularly freakish specimen and got some truly incredible photos of it looking menacing as all hell—and also extremely ripped. Seriously, this thing looks a lot like a bodybuilder.

Jackson Vincent, a 27-year-old gardener in Australia, was walking his dog Dharma on his grandmother's property near Boodjidup Creek when he spotted the massive 'roo. He said he's seen kangaroos on the land since he was a kid, but few that have been that large, according to the Sun. The 'roo was standing in the creek nearly fully submerged, and as Vincent started to take photos, it started to come at him.

"I am pretty confident around animals but the moment when he started to come out of the water my heart definitely jumped and I decided to take a few steps back," Vincent said. He estimated that the kangaroo was around 6'5" tall and 220 pounds.

"There are a lot of 'roos at my grandma's place, but I have never seen one that muscular before—he was a big macho male," Vincent said, before giving his most chilling anecdote: "I decided to get Dharma out of there, as we thought the kangaroo was going to lure him into the water to drown him."

Believe it or not, it isn't even uncommon for kangaroos to look like bodybuilders. Male 'roos, known as bucks, often grow to absolutely massive sizes, developing huge muscles in their hind legs and chest due to their strange hopping gait. Also, the males basically fight each other constantly (makes sense, because boxing is one of the best workouts out there).

After he got his dog away from the creek, Jackson went back for another look at the 'roo and noticed its claws were as long as his hand.

"I have never seen a kangaroo be so defensive—it definitely looked like he was puffing his chest muscles up," Jackson told the Sun. "I definitely wouldn't like to take him on in a boxing match."

To start with, you never, never want to box a kangaroo. Sure, they can punch, but the claws, like Jackson said, are the really dangerous part. Kangaroos will often try to hold an opponent with their beefy arms, and then use their insanely-powerful legs and claws to gut the other fighter. Still, that doesn't mean that 'roo vs. man hasn't happened—check out this video of a man saving his dog from an angry buck by punching it right in the face.
