First discovered in Maryland in Prince George's County in July 2014. If not introduced, this represents a significant expansion of the species' known range. Conant & Collins (1998) shows the northern limit of Eastern Lesser Siren as local populations in southeastern Virginia and northeastern North Carolina.
Feeds on a variety of aquatic invertebrates, as well as tadpoles and similar prey.
