Charles Frank Beach

Brighton - Charles Frank Beach passed away Sunday, December 5, 2021 surrounded by family. He was born April 3, 1931 to Bramston and Cecelia Marie Beach in Detroit, Michigan.

In 1947 at age 16, he moved to Brighton, MI with his mother and sister Beverly. He graduated in 1951 from Brighton High School. He loved sports and played all sports at BHS. On January 26, 1952, he married his high school sweetheart, Janice Pitkin.

He joined the MI National Guard in 1949 and served with them until 1954 when he transferred to the US Army Reserve in Detroit. He also joined the Detroit Police Dept. that year and moved to the city. After 26 years of service, he retired from the Detroit Police Dept. and returned back to Brighton. He worked security jobs at U of M Hospital, Cars & Concepts, and his last job was at VG's in Brighton, helping people get their groceries out to their cars.

Charles was a member of The First Presbyterian Church of Brighton, one of the first board members of the Brighton Area Historical Society, a member of the Brighton Masonic Lodge #247, and a member of The Optimist Club of Brighton.

Children of Charles and Janice are Nancy E. Tate (Walter), Cheri L. Joliet (Joe) and the late Charles Bradley Beach who passed on Sunday, December 5, 2010. Charles is also survived by four grandchildren, Joe Tate, Christy (Tate) Gocha, Jorja Joliet and Jason Beach, and seven great grandchildren, Lauren, Ashtyn, Easton, Lawson, Delaney, Ruby and Ophelia.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, brother Donald B. Beach, and sister Beverly.

A Memorial Service will be held at Keehn-Griffin Funeral Home, 706 W. Main St., Brighton, MI on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. with gathering from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Rev. Scott Phillips will be officiating.
